I was super jealous last month when Chloe from Sugar high and love stoned posted about her new peacock chair. I have wanted a vintage peacock chair since I was little and have even been teased on my way to and from work by the one in a shop near me (not for sale). I have posted about them in the past and been on the look out for a while. So I am super happy to have found one for the bargain price of a tenner!!
they are amazing! wonderful bargain, my dear, whar a price! love the pic of cat power xxx
ReplyDeleteLucky you!
ReplyDeleteI once saw one at a flea and thought immediately of you! I was thinking about sending it to you for a moment, but i guess sending such a big parcel from austria to GB would be horribly expensive!
Now you found one by yourself, thats even better!
I adore peacock chairs, my mum had one when I was little that was hers growing up. But it never made it though my childhood thanks to me and my brother climbing over it :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found one and at such a bargain, what a score!

There was one for sale in Totnes Market today...maybe I should have bought it....we had one about twenty years ago, but as I remember it wasn't actually very comfortable....just looked nice draped with silk embroidered fringed scarves and chenille cushions.

Recently found your blog and LOVE it! I've been pinning the hell out of some of these photos with a redirect back to your site. Hope you don't mind!
ReplyDeleteI never knew that was what they were called. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteRound here they're known as "Porn chairs" after the Emmanuelle film of the 1970s. Great images. x
ReplyDeleteI'm originally from Hawai'i(I live in Oregon now)and peacock chairs always remind me of May Day. It was customary for the May Day king and queen to sit in peacock chairs whilst watching the festivities.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing. I need to brush up my weaving skills and make one. I might take some inspiration from youre blog for my new shed and do some decorating.

I had a Peacock Chair EXACTLY like the one in Photo #6. I had it from the early 70's through the early 90's and gave it to a Teen neighbor who collected and appreciated Hippie Era Vintage... it made me feel good to know it was going to a Young person who appreciated the Era I spent my Youth in. Still love these chairs even though they weren't the most comfortable furniture. *winks*
