Mick and Anita In Performance: Plenty of throws, and mixed textiles

Anita Pallenberg and Moroccan Style light in "That Dress"

An Orange patchwork Throw and Brass Wine Glasses
Have you ever seen a film that you wished you could pause and step into just so you could look at the interiors? Eat, pray, love (that bedroom), Before sunset (her flat), The aunts house in practical Magic (well pointed out Kath) and this film do that for me. I would love to go in and study it all :)

Performance is a strange film, think gangster's, bisexual sex and violence mixed with a fair bit of hammy acting and posing....a true 60's Rock star film...... but the interiors are so very beautiful. Heavy on Moroccan textiles, accessories, lace, brass and opulent furniture. Divine :)

Plus it has Mick Jagger (legend) and the iconic Anita Pallenberg in that beautiful Vintage Piano Shawl worn above as a dress. Swoon!!

How about you guys, any film sets that have inspired you? xxx Gabi xxx

  6. yay, someone else mentioned "hideous kinky"! i'm not sure audiences were intended to aspire to the movie's accommodations, given the characters' rather dire financial situation, but it is still very lovely :) and in the same vein, ms. dinsmoor's decaying estate in the 1998 film version of "great expectations" is also very inspiring. as much as i favor eclectic, bohemian flavored interiors, i do sometimes find myself drawn to slightly more spare designs like the dark chocolate walls with white trim in "for pete's sake" (nevermind streisand's clothing!) as well as the sets of "she killed in ecstasy" (again, some of the clothes plus the exterior locations...and campiness).

  10. Definitely Practical Magic house, also Mrs Dinsmore's (sp?) delapidated Florida mansion in Great Expectations and the holiday house in Blame it on Rio :)

  11. Roman Polanski films always have great interiors: Two of my favorites are The Tenant (boho Paris apartment to die for) and Rosemary's Baby (The Dakota in NY).
