Current Crush: Lucia LaFerme and her botanical dyes

Lucia LaFerme natural botanically dyed french linen bedding and silk pillowcases 

Californian based bodyworker and natural dye enthusiast Lucia LaFerme has become a bit of a Instagram crush of mine recently, with her scrumptious plant dyed silk self care sleep kits and Botanically dyed French Linen Bedding. Her instagram page is unsurprisingly also a visual feast and I love to see little glimpses of artists home life, especially when its as beautiful as Lucia's.

I have included below a selection of her beautiful pictures, and although Lucia does dye in colours other than yellows and oranges with Autumn on its way have decided to stick to this glorious glowing warm orange. How beautiful is this bedding from Swedish Brand Garbo and Friends? Although predominantly a children's bedding company the good news is that the Stockholm based company also produce most of the prints, including the Fauna print in the top picture, in adult sizes too!

As a kid and an adult I have moved around a lot. Last count was 21 houses! That is a lot of bedrooms and not one of them was an attic room...... my ultimate dream bedroom!!

I just love sleeping below exposed timber beams, it just feels so nest like and comforting. bliss!!

You know the deal, you go into Ikea to get some of those cheap Kilner style jars and maybe a couple of cheap washing up brushes and... bang.... you are hit by something that is actually really, really nice and not only is it awesome but also really cheap.

This is how I ended up with my favourite botanical bed linen, 'Stradkrypa'. This beautiful botanical bed linen is an absolute bargain and really good quality cotton.

and no I am not working for Ikea..

Here are some beautiful white bedrooms to prove that white doesn't have to feel minimal and clinical. Using layers of cream and white textiles, including knits, sheepskins, and fluffy rugs etc... can still give a chilled out, cozy bohemian vibe to your room. Of course house plants and natural wood floors also help, but for those of you with carpets like me, layered rugs made from natural fibers also do a perfect job.......or a dreamy beach view....swoon

The problem with blogging is that sometimes it is impossible to find an original source for a photo that you love. I usually follow wild goose hunt trails from Pinterest to tumblr and back to pinterest etc.... The top image has been one of those that i have been trying to track for sometime and I finally found it today!!!

The picture is from the flickr account of 'mista masaai', and is from a series of before and after shots that he took of his bedroom.

It is such a beautiful relaxing room isn't it? I love the calm relaxing vibe of this room. The soft muted tones paired with the turquoise bedspread work beautifully with those big house plants..... and that mid-century modern chair is a perfect touch.

 It is one of my all time favorites and I am so glad I tracked it down so I can finally credit it properly!!

BED PEACE, HAIR PEACE: In bed with John Lennon & Yoko Ono

On March 25th 1969, only 5 days after their wedding, John Lennon and Yoko Ono staged a couple of non-violent in-bed protests. One in room 702 of the Amsterdam Hilton and later one in Montreal, in aid of world peace. The press were invited to attend between 9am and 9pm to talk about Peace.

As a life long Pacifist these pictures have always struck a nerve with me and with the recent troubles in Paris and Syria  (and the many other places) I found myself looking at these pictures again.

I have been called idealistic and naive but I really don't see why people can't just chill out, be kind and all get along....... and as John and Yoko said.......Remember Love!

 The images have become Iconic however it was not until 2012 that Yoko Ono released the video for the world to see. It is over an hour long but it is a great watch

I don't know where my obsession with Linen sheets has come from but aren't they just divine? Linen is the perfect material for bedding, it is soft, quick to dry (an essential in the winter for those of us without tumble dryers) and there is no point Ironing it..... it will always be nice and creased :)

The three companies that I am most impressed with on Etsy are : Moo Shop, House of Baltic Linen and Linen Tales in Bed. All three companies are small in size, offering handmade quality items, at prices that match or cheaper than the high street mass produced versions
