The home of..... Johanna Methusalemsdottir

The New York home of Jewellery designer Johanna Methusalemsdottir

Bob Dylan and Bongos
Eclectic Kitchen

Freunde von Freunden has quickly become one of my  favorite sites for home tours. This tour of jewellery designer Johanna Methusalemsdottir is no exception. Although the home is full of colour and layers of texture, it is such a calming home, and each element fits in so perfectly.

Kilim Cushion Dream .....

Large Kilim Cushions and abstract art
Kilim Dream. Awesome place to chill with friends

Vintage Kilim Cushions: Available from Beyond Marrakech
Vintage Berber Kilim seating
Kilim floor Cushions in Morocco
I have been totally obsessed with Kilim floor cushions for a few years but due to a 'new cushion' ban, imposed by my blokey, I still don't have one. However, a Vintage Berber kilim cushion is not technically 'New' is it? Hmmm!!

The Home of.... Marianne and Kore Yoors... Photographed by Leslie Williamson

Marianne and Kore Yoors' eclectic New York apartment, photographed by Leslie Williamson

This home encapsulates everything that I love and that I would one day want to achieve with my own home. The epitome of a bohemian artist pad (a successful artist obviously). wooden floor boards, treasures from all over the world, high ceilings with just as high paintings and plenty of beautiful colours and textiles.

The images are by the awesome photographer Leslie Williamson and are of Mother and Son, Marianne and Kore Yoor's New York apartment and are a small part of a selection of Leslies work showcased on the American craft council website here..

Of these photogrpahs leslie Says:

Marianne Yoors, weaver/ceramist: “Marianne and Kore Yoors’ home is one of those NYC
apartments that you just dream about, because it is so bohemian and unique. I originally
connected with the two of them over a love of Jan Yoors’ tapestries and photography
of gypsies. (Jan Yoors, Marianne’s husband and Kore’s father, died in 1977.) So my
original intent was to focus on and support Jan’s artistic legacy. But I have come to
love Kore’s paintings and Marianne’s ceramic work, which are layered all over the
apartment, along with Jan’s life-size sculptures and huge tapestries.” — Leslie Williamson

On a separate note, I am sad to say that artist Gisele d'Ailly van Waterschoot van der Gracht has passed away at the very respectful age of 100. Such a shining light will be sadly missed :(

I am not surprised how beautiful Florence Welch's bohemian London home is are you? The images are from Vogue 'Rock the Casa' shoot from May 2013 which I have just discovered it today thanks to an email from a lovely Moon to Moon Reader.

You can tell this eclectic home is a labour of love, with items individually picked by Florence, rather than thrown in by a stylist/interior designer. Modern artworks such as the Keith Harring and Tamara de Lempicka's 'Self portrait in the green Bugatti' hang above that beautiful sofa next to Victorian botanical prints. I love the bright contemporary turquoise paint running though the home paired with vintage finds like the Victorian Piano shawl in the dressing room, and that stunning bed!

Hope you all have a great weekend, dont forget to enter the give away which closes on Wednesday

The Home of.... Free People's Senior graphic Artist...

This beautiful eclectic Philadelphia apartment is the home of Free People's Senior Graphic Artist. I love it! Full to the brim with interesting prints, patterns and textures, not to mention tons of rare vintage finds... plus any home with a Modesty Blaise poster and an Oliver Sacks book is pretty damn fine in my opinion.

These images were shamelessly poached from the Free People Blog, make sure you head on over and check it out here

Could you sell Everything and start again?

Photograph by David Carr Smith

My uncle has just sold his house and the people buying it like the whole place so much that they offered to buy all the furniture as well as the building. My uncle said yes.

I have been pondering this a lot, and am not sure what I would say...I may not have the nicest furniture in the world but I mean, it took me 6+ months to find the 'perfect bed' and then I waited 3 more months until it went in the sale. Most of my items were charity shop, thrift shop, car boot, street or ebay finds, that I could never find again.. these items were each a moment of excitement, a bargain or freebee or an item that I worked hard to save for.

... am i just being a typical Taurean and putting too much weight into material items?

Would you sell everything and start again? Would it be a wonderful liberating experience or your your worst nightmare?

for me the jury is still out..
