Cabin Fever....

As the days get shorter and the nights draw in I find myself finally feeling comfortable in my skin again. I am not a big hot weather person nor am I a fan of the summers revealing clothing (on me) and how exposed it makes me feel. So when Autumn arrives along with the chunky cardigans, boots and scarves I feel finally at peace. But I also find myself craving the smell, taste and sight of the forest, and around this time of year my Pinterest account gets full of the most beautiful A-frame houses. So whilst sat curled up in a blanket (and sipping a fine Single malt), I thought I would share a selection with you guys.

Hope you are enjoying the season, what ever it may be in your part of the world xx

House Tour: An Australian Costal Cottage

 Gasp!!!

Unsurprisingly it was the huge round wooden window that drew my attention to this stunning costal cottage. The picture had been pinned with no source but thankfully Pinterest's new photo recognition tool saved the day and I was able to locate the Apartment therapy original (although I swear this home was also featured in Kinfolk some years back..... I never forget a round window).

The stunning costal cottage is home to Kirsty and Simon and their daughter Mali and is situated in Costal Victoria, Australia. The couple clearly have an eye for beautiful pieces and Kirsty runs online store Otis and Otto where she sells handmade pieces she has sourced.

A mellow cabin in vermont

Back to the chilled and neutral palette that I so much crave these days.....I never thought I would turn almost minimalist in my tastes but there is something about earthy tones that really makes me feel so relaxed.

The Vermont home is lived in by writer Robin MacArthur and her husband Ty and romantically the hand built cabin is on the spot on which Robins childhood hideaway was located, that the pair later decided to build their family home on.

As a bit of a home obsessive, soon after seeing these photos on Design Sponge I decided I needed to see more and was quickly headed to instagram to see if Robin had an account. Although these pictures are beautifully shot, and really do show off the stunning building that the pair built by hand, there is something about seeing a house as it is really lived in that gives a home a true warmth. So below I have included some pictures from Robin's instagram (link below)... that show the cabin as not only as a building but as a home..... a very happy one at that....

A sunken Copper Bath, Hanging Ferns and stunning hand built wood framed Windows as featured in the 1975 book Planning and Remodeling bathrooms

I am a total vintage interior design book junkie and am slowly building up my collection and today scored a copy of Sunset books, 1975 book Planning and Remodeling Bathrooms for £2 . It is full of wooden and copper bathrooms, huge ferns and dreamy views. Definitely worth a share!!

Geodesic Artic dome with a cob house inside.....

Geodesic Artic dome with a cob house inside

I love this 2 in one house, a geodesic dome with a cob house inside, and that view...

The house belongs to the Hjertefølgers and their 4 children, who moved in, in 2013. The geodesic dome protects the cob house and the inner garden from the elements. The inner cob home will always be okay as long as it is kept dry.

The Home of..... Artist Donjo

This beautiful hand built bohemian home is part of an Artists community in Buenos Aires

This beautiful Buenos Aires oasis is the home of Artist Donjo. The home, made from pallets and boards took him only one month to construct and is such a perfect example of what can be done with passion and a small budget. Apart form the bed and sofa which used to be his grandmothers, Donjo has also made most of the furniture..

The beautiful huge round windows mean there is plenty of natural light for house plants, and the addition of another circular window in the roof mean Donjo can lie in bed and look at the stars!

Donjo's cozy house is located in an artists community in Buenos Aires where 12 other artists have workshops and homes. I have to say this sounds like an absolute dream doesnt it?
