Tess Guinery.... Earth Tones, Poetry and Rainbows

Tess Guinery

I love Instagram. I have connected with so many like minded souls and also drooled over many accounts. There are of course, the accounts that can leave me feeling a little poop (unfollow!!!), but there are also those that leave me feeling uplifted and inspired. One of the accounts I am loving at the moment is that of Poet and Artist Tess Guinery.

Her beautiful earth toned rainbows are so simple but so pretty and I would love one of these hand painted beauties. Her whole account is full of stunning earth tones, great poetry and happy pictures of family life...... :)

Here are a few pictures from her instagram account @tessguinery , but there are so many beauties to check out so well worth a visit :)

The 'Cabin in a Loft' of... Terri and Adam

I have seen images of Terri and Adams 'Cabin in a loft' floating around the internet for a while but only today have I found a link to their Tumblr account to see a full set of images.

This beautiful studio apartment in Brooklyn was converted by the Chiaozza shop owners  into a treehouse-esque cabin in a loft for only $2,000. The apartment features furniture made by the couple, rugs from travels to Morocco and copious amounts of houseplants in crazy ass planters... dreamy!

Bathroom: Blue, White and Green

Blue and white bathroom.  photography Studio Oink
Anne Potters bathroom via Design Sponge
Dark Blue walls and house plants
Isn't this combination of Blue, White and copious amounts of houseplants great? I would have thought that dark blue was a bit too.... dark... for a bathroom but it actually work really well doesn't it?

This would work perfectly in my little bathroom and would only cost the price of a pot of paint. I also  really like the copper and terracotta pots in the second picture, they works really well with the petrol blue.

If like me you would like a bathroom update, a can of paint can do wonders! Visit my Bathroom Guide here for more quickfix Bathroom update ideas.

White Walls and House Plants

Isn't this home just so simple yet so perfect? Matt white walls, a beautiful collection of house plants and quality wood furniture....

I am trying to teach myself that less can be more. I keep trying to remind myself that if I save my money I can buy one really beautiful item rather than splurging on plenty of cheaper ones !

The Barbican, London

The Barbican Conservatory, London
Barbican Conservatory
I went to the Barbican back in 2002 to the David LaChappelle exhibition and managed to get a glimpse of the magical Conservatory filled with exotic plants hanging off the chunky concrete balconies.

Like the Millennium Garden in Sheffield, the Barbican conservatory is free to visit for the public and is such a great space to just sit and read or eat your lunch. It would be so great if all cities had these spaces for people to go and chill.. wouldn't you agree?

3 Summer Plant Ideas....

Being on maternity and breastfeeding constantly (very hungry baby) has given me the chance to browse the web on my ipad a lot this last 7 weeks. As regular readers will know I am a total house plant addict although I rarely try anything interesting with my plants.

Whilst browsing I have been collecting loads of Images of houseplants and this morning came across this article about summer plant ideas and I thought I would try my hand at something different, so inspired by the http://frommoontomoon.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/because-matching-bedlinen-is-just-like.htmlarticle I have put together my own 3 Summer Plant Ideas...

1) Succulents in Trays

Summer plant Ideas: Succulent display

Summer Plant ideas: Succulent tray

I really love the idea of putting a number of succulents together in a tray. The wonderful about succulents is not only are they great for novice houseplant gardeners, as they extremely hard to kill, but they come in a great range of shapes and textures making them perfect for grouping together.... the big squishy ones look great next to a spikey dude :)

2) Getting Creative with Planters

I spend a lot of time looking through charity shops and thrift stores looking for beautiful ceramic planters but never think about using objects I already have. A good friend's mum from college had a beautiful house plant growing out of a beautiful African Drum, which I always thought was really cool and i love the idea of using found objects or pre-loved items to re-purpose as planters. The mirror ball idea is one I really like as positioned in an open window on a windy day would produce some crazy-ass reflections!!

3) Pots with faces

Whether they are grouped together or you have one rouge smiling planter amongst your pots, these pots will bring a sense of fun to your house plant collection.... but be warned they are addictive ( I now have 4 Stella Atelier pots... whoops).

Animal planters are also a perfect way to get kids excited about house plants.... remember Mr Grasshead?.... I thought he was so cool...

What do you guys think?

The home of... Fox Fodder Farms, Taylor Patterson

My first job was helping my mum in the small florists shop she worked in, in Shrewsbury. Althoug I spent a lot of the time with my hands in freezing buckets of water, it was Valentines day weekend, I loved it, and since then I have loved cut flowers and buy a bunch nearly every week.

I have a lot of admiration for florists and think in a parallel universe that is the other me's job. This is the home and studio of Brooklyn florist, Taylor Patterson. The whole article and collection of beautiful photographs are over at Sous Style... A lovely interview accompanies the photos, check it out here  and be inspired....
