Current Obsession: Tetsubin Teapots

Tetsubin: Cast Iron Teapot from Japan

Tetsubin cast iron Teapot

My current obsession is these little Tetsubin teapots from Japan. They are made from Cast Iron so they are pretty heavy, but good news if you are a klutz like me, they are pretty much indestructible. Hurrah!!

A google or ebay search will bring up a glorious selection of colours in your own country. Here in the UK I found Gifts of the Orient to have a great selection of colours and styles.

Rituals.. Part 1. Tea...

Rituals: Lavender Tea and marmalade, Via Charmaine Olivia

Ritual: Cup of Tea and Plants, via Rosy gets Cosy

Rituals: Tea, Honey and Incense
Rituals: Tea heated on coals
Rituals: The art of tea drinking
Rituals: Tea in bed

Strange how a teapot can represent at the same time the comforts of solitude and the pleasures of company.

Teapots

My teapot is rubbish, it leaks.
Being  English  i can not possibly live without a teapot and tea. So i decided to take it upon myself to look at the best teapots on offer and decide upon a winner. The only requirements
  • it does not leak
  • it can fit at least 3 cups of tea in it
  • and that it is not too boring or too fussy
The teapot i have found is from Toast and is an indian teapot that can hold 3/4 of a pint and is priced at £39. I think it is lovely and looks pretty sturdy.
