"Eliphante"

Elephante: A handmade house in Arizona.

This is the last chamber of "Pipe Dreams" Giant tassel by Elizabeth March. Dreams by Peyote.

This beautiful sculptural home was build by husband and wife team Michael Kahn and Leda Livant Kahn and is one of the most interesting and beautiful homes I have ever seen. The home, called Elephante, features beautiful hand made stained glass windows, a re-purposed truck made into a bedroom and a kitchen made of driftwood, carved branches, stones, earth, leaves, weeds, mirror and broken pottery.
My favorite room is the chamber of dreams, which is yours?..

I am currently in Copenhagen for a long weekend, Hope you enjoy yours

Diane Itter

Diane Itter, basket weave. From the book The Art of Fabric: Mainstream
Diane Itter
Triangles by Diane Itter

Diane Itter began experimenting with fiber in 1968 while she was an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh, and continued her explorations as a graduate student at Indiana University. By the 1970s, she had refined her knotting techniques, taking inspiration from such wide-ranging sources as Peruvian weaving techniques, Native American mini-baskets, Amish textiles, and English miniatures. Besides working on her craft, she taught courses in weaving, quiltmaking, and other arts at Indiana University and directed the Crafts and Design Program there. By the time she passed away from cancer in 1989, Itter had created more than 350 works.

"I view my work as studies or fragments, parts of some greater whole as yet undiscovered.
For me the excitement evolves as I work on the pieces - there is no planning involved
and the pieces are always open to change. The working process is of greater importance
than the finished piece…I have the desire to create something so complex that the
method of its madness cannot be figured out."

The Old public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County

Interior of the Old Main building- The public library of Cincinnati and Hamilton

The Main Hall featured five tiers of cast-iron alcoves that housed over 200,000 books.

These images are of the Old Building of the original Cincinnati and Hamilton country Library. In 1874 the Public library of Cincinnati moved into the small building originally meant to be an opera house, Sadly by the 1950's the library outgrew the building and it was knocked down. So sad.... espcially when you look at its grim replacement....
