After writing about escapism, I have begun thinking about the importance of having a place to escape to and relax, to call your own. A place of solitude. For me it is my bathroom. When I lock that bathroom door the rest of the world stays firmly locked out. No one will bother me, my boyfriend knows to stay well away. It is my time to be still.
One day I would love a tree house, but I think that is a long way off.
Really pretty.
ReplyDeleteThey all look like such beautiful places to escape to. There was one summer when I was a kid when we lived at a house that had a pond and a dinghy. I escaped from everyone by floating around in the boat, reading.
ReplyDeleteNow I try to find a calm space in my mind to run off to, since a physical place is not available (small house, small children)

i'm lucky to have a whole studio. but tranquility is more a state of mind and the ability to create energetic bounderies, just like you do in the bathroom.
ReplyDeletei've usually just had a little corner in a room, but there's always nature too.
love the 2nd last pic, for it's simplicity.

Love these pictures! The fourth one down looks just like what my daughter and I improvised the year we forgot to bring our tent to the Pagan Gathering!
ReplyDeletethat driving cabin in the last pic looks sooooo cosy and nice, i want to make that too!!
ReplyDeleteThe second picture moved me. I love small spaces. They feel safe, intimate and wrap me in comfort. For now, though, I will continue to use the bathtub for my sacred space too.
ReplyDeleteAnd like you..everyone knows to stay away ;)
xo
The second picture is my favorite..a warm, cozy sanctuary. I like to feel enveloped in my bedroom by warm colors and small spaces. It made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteOh my god, I love these pics! When I get my own garden I will build my own safety place there :)
