Wish you were here....

To wake up here!!!!

I have so much university work to do and sitting in the study area of my bedroom is driving me a little crazy, not to mention writing about dementia is a tad depressing. The weather outside is rotten so I can't even sit in the sunshine. Anyway enough whinging. I thought I would post some pictures of rooms I would rather be studying in. Although I doubt I would get much done.

*Warning, rant alert*

The other day my boyfriend asked me why on earth I spent £200 on a leather jacket (half price 'Owain' jacket from All saints - stunning -see below), when I could have got one for half the price elsewhere, and why it was that I was not happy getting any old footstool, why did it have to be some patchwork one from the local 'hippy shop'? At the time I was feeling guilty of my spending, so could not come up with a good answer, but now I have had time to reflect....

I have come to realise that sometimes rather than looking at the bigger picture, it is also important to focus on the details. Although I admit I do shop at Ikea and other shops where mass produced items are sold, I love to indulge by shopping for items that were hand crafted. Made with love and passion and the right materials for the job - no mdf flat pack furniture or cheap looking item suffice when you have seen the real deal - and not always may I add at a higher cost!

Maybe I am just entering a different chapter in my life, I am no longer buying bits and bobs for the house out of necessity as I was when I finished university 5 years ago. Then any sofa would do because I needed somewhere to sit. Now I want to replace that tatty sofa with a nice one I want to have beautiful things!

I know it sounds very materialistic, and I guess to a certain degree I am.  I appreciate quality craftsmanship and attention to details, and that also goes for my own worklife as a nurse, I wouldn't dream of doing an okay job of patching up a wound, I put care and passion into my work, and I don't think that is a bad thing!

Yes that is Drew Barrymore in MY coat :)
Ha Ha, rant over.
p.s, He is actually a real sweetie pie :)

Wooden kitchens...

Google

Moodboard
Living etc
Geninne's Art blog
It must have been my commentors kind words because today I feel a bit better, I can actually turn my head from side to side, although it is still painful to do so. I have posted a fair few crisp clean rooms recently so I thought it was time to get back to basics. So here are a collection of beautiful wooden kitchens, I personally am in love with that top kitchen, I am not sure but it looks like mango wood (?), what ever it is I want it :)

I love cooking and also have all my herbs, spices and pulses on display so I can find exactly what I am looking for, my mum has always done it so I guess it is what I am used to, my boyfriend however hates clutter on the work surfaces!

I would like to thank those who have sent me e-mails about my blog recently. It is always nice to hear from people so if anyone has any questions, feedback or would like me to look at anything in particular please let me know. I will do my best

All along the watchtower...

freshome

Hey Bloggers, I am just posting to let you know that I have been rather unwell for the past few days (picked up something from the hospital), I will be back up and running soon.

In the mean time I just wanted to share this Hotel with you as I am sure more than one person out there will be as in love as I am (although I wish I hadn't looked at the other pictures as it is minimalist inside)

Hope the winter bugs haven't caught up with you xxx

Oooo la la. I am in love with big house plants. We have a huge old Cheese plant in our sitting room, who I am resisting  re-potting (although he needs it) because he is getting huge! But I will soon :)

The top plants are all Ficus Lyrata, one of my favourites and defiantly on my dream home shopping list

I'll be your mirror...

Bijou and Boheme
Unknown sorry!
Absolutely beautiful things

Okay, so some of the rooms are a little tidier and smarter than what I would usually go for, but I am ignoring that and looking at those beautiful large mirrors! They look so good leaning on the floor like that, and they create so much more beautiful natural light.

I am on the look out for some 'art' for my walls. I am in love with that illustration above from anthropologie but at nearly £2000 I dont think my student budget will stretch :(

At the moment I am browsing ebay and charity shops, but hopefully will be going to an auction soon, how exciting.
