Happy Hanging House Plants

Now those are some happy hanging house plants aren't they?

I have never really had the knack with hanging house plants but about 2 months ago (on the day I found out I got my new job) I brought myself a really beautiful new celebratory plant and she is thriving... in fact to my surprise maybe too much!

If she grows anymore I don't know where to put her.... Do I snip her beautiful long tendrils or trail her around the tiny bathroom she lives in>

What do you guys do? Do you snip or trail ?

Gabi.....I'm certainly not an expert on this but if you want the plant to be fuller in the pot....snip......if not let it trail and it will become long and leggy.

At least this is what I do here in AZ and it seems to work.

Hi Gabi,
I've had hit or miss luck with houseplants too, but I started using Neptune Seeweed Fertilizer once every two weeks during the Spring/Sum/Fall and my plants are rebounding with a lot of new growth; they look healthy, not weak and struggling. I also started using a seeweed infused potting soil and began misting them once every few days (with reg. water) and I've seen a remarkable difference. As far as pruning goes, I trim to force the plant to fill out (this is essential with Pathos or trailing plants) and then I give them a haircut about once a year just to shape them. I've also heard a lot of nonsense about not placing houseplants in north facing windows, but I've had great luck with Pathos, Snake Plants and Lady Palms; however I live in Texas and we get a lot of clear, sunny days. Hope this helps!

Those first two pictures are absolutely insane! Definite plant goals for the next few years ;D

Personally I'm a huge fan of letting them trail and go wild, I think it looks so pretty and natural!

Trail, definitely trail!!! Or if its a type that takes well to propagation (like ivy), make yourself some new babies. Snip off sections with 3-4 leaves, put them in a jar of water, and wait 6-8 weeks til they sprout roots. Then repot and you have free plants :)

Snip and trail! Use the snips to grow more plants! Depending on the plant: cut at a diagonal and place the cutting in a glass of water....it will keep growing without soil and the roots look beautiful!

If you snip a few, put the cuttings(cut at a diagional) in a glass of water and they should grow on their own without soil! It looks really pretty, too.
