Style: Maria Cauldron's Raw Silk Dresses...

Maria Cauldron

Have you seen these wonderful natural hand dyed dresses from Maria Cauldron? I am a little bit obsessed with these right now... Each of the one of a kind pieces is made using natural plant and insect dyes, harvested in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner from conscious companies and collectives that give back to the source.

Each textile piece must undergo its own personal process that spans 3-5 days of preparation and immersion. Including...
24 hours of Mordanting (preparing the fiber)
24 - 48 hours of Extracting the Dye from the matter.
24 hours of Clamping, Tying, Binding, Wrapping, Dying, Washing and Drying.
Multiple colors could add an additional 48 hours.

The Perfect Room....

I have an extensive secret board on Pinterest where I store pictures that inspire me, so when I am creating a post for Moon to Moon, I will rummage through and find a theme or a vibe that inspires me on that particular day. Some of the images have been patiently waiting years to be be picked and paired off and some like this one will never find a partner.... because it is just to darn special to be coupled with anything else.

Sadly as is the case with many Pinterest images this one was uploaded with no source information, luckily you lovely readers, and especially those on Instagram are happy to enlighten me. So if you are as in love with this image as I am, I am sure a link will appear soon. but in the mean time I am just going to sit and stare at it and wonder where in Europe(?) it is....

Amsterdam: Bar Botanique Cafe Tropique

I just adore this beautiful 1930's esque cafe, completed last year in Amsterdam. The colours and lighting used in the interior kinda remind me of something from a Wes Anderson film. It just looks like the perfect place to sip a Gin and Tonic and people watch. I will definitely be visiting Bar Boutique Cafe Tropique when I return to Amsterdam!

"Plants have a strong presence in the interior. Palm trees, philodendron, ferns and monsteras create an ever changing interior.  Highlighted with lamps, the plants create dramatic effects on the ceiling and walls, as the sun goes down the shadows become more present and the bar life begins."

A converted Gas station in Berlin

My heart skipped a beat when I found these photos of a converted 1950's Gas station were found over at Freunde von freunden. The home in Schöneberg, Berlin was brought and converted by gallery owner Juerg Judin after 13 years of admiring it from afar....

How long have you had the gas station?
I bought it in 2005, but the first time I saw it was in 1992. It had already been on the market for seven years, unused. A ‘For Sale’ sign with a phone number hung in the window. I photographed the place almost every time I was in Berlin, documenting its slow decay. Here was this somewhat sad useless construction in a perfect central location – it fascinated me and somehow called to me: do something with me!
You had been taking photos of the building for quite a while. Why did you wait so long to buy it?
At the time, I was commuting between London and Zurich. In 1992, I spent a wonderful summer in Berlin for a film production and fell in love with the city. After that, I started coming here regularly and going past the station. One day, after 13 years, the for-sale sign was suddenly gone. I thought, Oh God, someone bought my gas station.
Then what?
Then it turned out that the sign had simply fallen down; the gas station was still to be had. At that point, I knew, Okay, that was probably a wake-up call.
