Spotted: DIY Vintage Rug Runner

During my searches this week I found this awesome DIY Vintage runner tutorial over at Wit & Delight.  Sadly I haven't got beautiful wooden floorboards to surround such a runner but I will be keeping this in my Pinterest 'future home' folder for further reference...

I just love the colours in these rugs, looks so good with the crisp white walls and wooden floors.... swoon!!

You know when you are little and you plan your dream home with your siblings? Well mine would always include a spiral staircase. They have always been the top of my cool list. They are of course impracticable and a bit of a ball ache to walk up and down, plus they are cold and really unsafe for pets and children.... but I still really want one!

... but now my dream spiral staircase is green, or teal....

Painted Stairs

In the UK it is traditional to carpet the stairs but I love these painted staircases. Whether it is rainbow or gradiented like above or block colour like below, painting the stairs is a cheaper option than carpet and adds a bit of fun and pop of colour to an otherwise plain and hard to decorate part of the home.

All the homes in the pictures I have chosen are so different and yet the colour instantly transforms  the homes, especially in the 3rd image, which (in my opinion) looks really sterile apart from the fun stairs

Just a short post to say I wish everyone a really happy New Year! Thank you to all my 'followers' for making my blog such a happy escapism for me. Your lovely comments, blogs and encouragement have been so wonderfully inspiring.
