Guide to Creating a Relaxing Bohemian Home....

Bridget Bardot, San Tropez

I am so proud of my new ebay guide. I used the image above of Bridget Bardot in her San Tropez home as inspiration.

As my regular readers will know I don't usually work with larger corporations but I am a total eBay addict, especially for my own home furnishings. I really try to only buy second hand these days for ethical reasons and because I find the high street rarely inspires me. Why buy a Kantha copy when you can have the real deal for the same price or cheaper?

Any way, Please check out my 'Creating a Bohemian Home' guide and let me know what you think, I would love some feedback

Collections: African and Asian Masks

Francesco Clemente

I love African and Indonesian Masks, mainly due to my fathers collection. I remember friends saying that they found them scary, but I have always seen them as interesting friendly faces, in particular one we used to call Courgette... a huge long stripy one.

5 Decorating Mantras ...

I recently came across this Pin that had 5 decorating mantras to live by and thought they were so great I would share. I can actually relate to each of them...

1) The closer something is to your body the better it should be...
Toast Bedding

I am sure I am not alone in giving into those £12 Ikea double bedsheets and pillow sets, I mean they are a bargain...... But about a year ago I brought myself some really, really nice Cotton Pillow cases from Toast and have decided to slowly replace my cheap bedding for soft natural fibers. They feel so much better on my skin....

2) Surround yourself with quality, not clutter
Surround yourself with quality not clutter

I have a terrible habit of seeing something I like, finding it is a little bit out of my budget and then buying a cheaper version instead. Inevitably the cheaper option is not quite right and then spend ages wishing I had just saved up for the original in the first place.

3) Every room needs something Living

House plants are not only beautiful but they are calming. Whether its a beautiful hanging plant or a small cacti, a room does feel so much better with a little life in it

4) Honor the acts of daily living. If it's a habit, make it beautiful
If it's a habit make it beautiful

My morning ritual (whether it is 5 am or 7 am that Alex wakes me), always involves a cup of tea, I really cant function without a good cuppa. I am slowly replacing all my old mugs that I brought from necessity with hand made instead.

5) Life should sparkle. Every House needs Bling

Bling to me is a bit of Brass or a beautiful terrarium or any object that is a luxury. I have recently invested in a beautiful art deco star lamp for my hallway. I have wanted one since I was a little girl!!

What decorating mantras do you guys live by?

Bar Cart Essentials

I love this Home bar with overhanging Star Lights

Home Bar
Bright and colourful Bar

Fully Stocked and ready to go

Vinyl and Booze :)

If like me you are a bit afraid of 'styling' your home then setting up a bar cart is a great place to start. You don't even have to have a dedicated bar cart, just a simple tray with a few bottles and a cocktail shaker will add instant edgy glamour and I think they always look put together.

If you wan to go one step further and get serious about your bar cart then luckily brands such as Hendrix Gin and The Bitter Truth not only make yummy alcohol but they also come in beautiful Victorian style packaging that looks great on the bar cart or just on your shelf!

My other favorite bar cart must haves....

Hendrix Gin
Amethyst Wine stopper by Brooklyn Thread
Long Wooden Stirrers by board and bread
Copper Moscow Mule Mug G & G Mercantile co
Vintage Claw Ice Pickers from eBay

Bold Statement Tiles...

Hand Painted Kitchen tiles
Rustic Kitchen Tiles and Stone sink
Floor Tiles
Pretty Tiles
Hand Painted Tiles - Awesome DIY Project
I am on the prowl for some kitchen tile inspiration. When I brought my house last August I promised myself the first thing I would do was get rid of the horrendous peach flowery kitchen tiles (see image below). I honestly dont know what possessed the last owner to put these up.

I am on a bit of a small budget so tile paint may have to be a quick fix, whilst I dream and save for a beautiful Moroccan inspired kitchen.

Not even a million pretty Spice Jars will disguise these Tiles!

Rituals: Incense....

Incense holder
Incense in a shell
Incense and the Dark Side of the Moon :)

Like a good cup of tea, I swear a stick of Nag Champra Incense can make everything okay. Even after a really stressful day 12 hour shift in A&E, the ritual of lighting an incense stick is enough to mark the end of work and the beginning of home life. Bliss!!

Hope everyone has had a magical valentines day xx
