Overgrown Hideaway...

Before I first started blogging I picked up a copy of a magazine in the dentist and I remember thinking how magical this place looked. Huge overgrown plants covering the windows and walls. Pretty white lace curtains covering the old timber door frame. And behind an inviting looking sofa was a photo wall. It made me want a secret hiding place, the kind of place only I could go, maybe a studio to write or create art, or even just read and be alone.

We all need those days or moments to be alone and just breathe... the desire to spend time alone doesn't have to be through negativity in our day. Sometimes it is just great to be still and reflect, to have no noise bouncing around in our brains like a pinball...

This place would be a dreamy place to regather your thoughts wouldn't it?
 
The 3 top images are from Easy Living (2005) and are a collaboration between Debi Treloar and David brook, the bottom I am not sure about its origin but I love that time has clearly gone passed and the hideaway owner has added more to their inspiration wall :)

House Plant: Tradescantia Zebrina

Tradescantia Zebrina

Last week I was browsing my local florist for something a little different to sit in my vase when I came across the most beautiful shimmery house plant. It was green and sparkly silver on the top and bright purple on the bottom....... The plant was a Tradecantia Zebrina and it came straight home with me!

I have placed him at the top of the stairs where a few other plants live but as he is so vibrantly colored am probably going to move him to his own space to let his beauty shine :)

Tradescantia Zebrina is a really beautiful trailing houseplant that is pretty easy to look after.....

Site: A bright position out of direct sunlight. 
Temp: This is a fairly robust plant liking average warmth. 
Water: Keep well watered in summer and infrequently in winter. Mist leaves occasionally. 
Feeding: A liquid feed every 3 weeks or so.

Lamp Envy

Having a baby has made me assess what factors made my childhood so special, and one of many great things my parents did was ensured we always had a family meal at the table. With a father that worked abroad, the family meal was a very important consistant in my life, even when it was just my mum, sister and me. We were never a T.V dinner family and we always had to ask to be excused from the table... and that is they way I would like it to be for Alex. The dining table is so much more than a slab of wood/glass, to me it represents family and making time to discuss the days events, to enjoy food and appreciate each others company.
