Happy New Year!!!

The Cave of Crystals. Naica, Mexico.

2014 has been such an awesome life changing year for me. Starting the year apprehensive but happily pregnant and ending it a proud Mum to the most wonderful charming little chap. New Year is such a great time for reflection and this year more than ever I feel really eager to make positive changes to my lifestyle. Being a good role model and acting upon my personal ethics seems so much more important all of a sudden.

So I have decided that after a 6 months of  being Dairy Free, and seeing/feeling the massive benefits, I am going to give Veganism a try, I am only committing to January but who knows? Have you guys got any new year resolutions?

So anyway........ I just wanted to say Happy New Year and Thank you so much for every reader, subscriber, commenter, give away contestant, sponsor. I am so pleased that Moon to Moon has attracted such a wondeful kind group of like minded followers from across the globe.

Collections: African and Asian Masks

Francesco Clemente

I love African and Indonesian Masks, mainly due to my fathers collection. I remember friends saying that they found them scary, but I have always seen them as interesting friendly faces, in particular one we used to call Courgette... a huge long stripy one.

I have been eyeing up vintage and antique day beds recently. A beautiful thick throw (or vintage velvet curtain) some cushions /scatter pillows, a book and a cuppa and there you have it..... heaven!

I have no room what so ever in my tiny little house but one day I will have one....

The Home of... Greg Irvine

Photos – Eve Wilson, production – Lucy Feagins / The Design Files.

This wonderful eclectic home is owned by artist Greg Irvine and I love it!! He has such a great eye for beautiful, interesting pieces. I love the contrast between the dark brooding sitting room and the bright white crisp dining room, they some how work really well together.

Although it easily could be for World of Interiors magazine this articles original source in the great Australian web site The Design Files. I cant believe I had not discovered this site until recently! I urge you to check it out, I could have re-blogged every picture but have left out loads...

5 Decorating Mantras ...

I recently came across this Pin that had 5 decorating mantras to live by and thought they were so great I would share. I can actually relate to each of them...

1) The closer something is to your body the better it should be...
Toast Bedding

I am sure I am not alone in giving into those £12 Ikea double bedsheets and pillow sets, I mean they are a bargain...... But about a year ago I brought myself some really, really nice Cotton Pillow cases from Toast and have decided to slowly replace my cheap bedding for soft natural fibers. They feel so much better on my skin....

2) Surround yourself with quality, not clutter
Surround yourself with quality not clutter

I have a terrible habit of seeing something I like, finding it is a little bit out of my budget and then buying a cheaper version instead. Inevitably the cheaper option is not quite right and then spend ages wishing I had just saved up for the original in the first place.

3) Every room needs something Living

House plants are not only beautiful but they are calming. Whether its a beautiful hanging plant or a small cacti, a room does feel so much better with a little life in it

4) Honor the acts of daily living. If it's a habit, make it beautiful
If it's a habit make it beautiful

My morning ritual (whether it is 5 am or 7 am that Alex wakes me), always involves a cup of tea, I really cant function without a good cuppa. I am slowly replacing all my old mugs that I brought from necessity with hand made instead.

5) Life should sparkle. Every House needs Bling

Bling to me is a bit of Brass or a beautiful terrarium or any object that is a luxury. I have recently invested in a beautiful art deco star lamp for my hallway. I have wanted one since I was a little girl!!

What decorating mantras do you guys live by?

Small Octopus from Big Stuffed
When I say current obsession, I really mean Current obsession! These sea creatures from Big Stuffed are just gorgeous arent they? They are the creations of Paris based designer Dana Maskat, a former stylist from Tel Aviv.

Blissful Bathrooms...

Calm relaxing Bohemian Bathroom
Kristin Perer's Bathroom. Anthology Issue No. 15.  Photographed by Catherine Gratwicke
Lauren and Chads Bohemian bathroom
Wooden bath pannel and tiled floor in this Ubud home
Claw Foot Bathtub in Ballyvolane House

Bath time has always been my chill out time at the end of a busy 12 hour shift at work. Lighting my candles, locking the door, climbing into the warm water and breathing a sigh of relief that I made it through the day/night....

......recently though my bath time has been Ernie singing rubber ducky, plastic bath toys and more than once having to jump out to dodge the baby sick... yummy! This is not relaxing but (apart from the latter), it is actually just as enjoyable....

However, when I go back to work in the Spring, and Alex is fully able to sit in the bath unsupported,  I am reclaiming my bath time and bathroom. To mark the occasion I am decorating. I have a huge secret board on Pinterest full of bathrooms that I am dreaming of relaxing in. I am sure the plastic bath toys are here to stay, and will in fact multiply, but some bath room cupboards will sort that little problem....

Cant wait!!

The Berlin home of ... Kate Bellm

"It is a warm summer afternoon in Kate Bellm's house in Berlin- Friedrichshain. The doors and windows are widely opened and the sound of music reaches the lovely backyard, were two turtles enjoy some rays of sunshine. The spacious living room with an open kitchen and loft-character speaks of a creative spirit and instantly takes oneself on a journey into the world of the 26-year old from London. All over the place souvenirs, painted wood, colorful carpets, talismans and wall decoration tell stories about the journeys of the young Berliner by choice, who has already made quite a name for herself as a photographer internationally. Apart from campaigns for labels such as Kaviar Gauche, Kitsune and Lika Mimika, her editorials for Interview Magazine, L’officiel and Vogue UK are only a few publications of her impressive portfolio.

In the middle of 2000 Kate moved to Berlin, to the city of partying and of the excessive lifestyle, where she quickly erased this exact world between long nights and dawn from her own world. Instead she straightaway saw the potential of the creative scene of the German capitol and felt the need to put all her energy into her projects. While her commissional work is mostly about shooting beautiful girls in eclectic settings, her analogue photography wanders on a far more intimate and personal path.....

New Moon: Beautiful Bohemian Kids Bedrooms

This is actually two rooms. One Tiger's and one Stella's, both beautiful examples of kids bedrooms that are creative, quirky and fun. I think I may just steal the tree in the bedroom idea, that is just so cool...

Tiger and Stella are the teenage children of doll designer Jess Brown, and like her beautiful dolls, their rooms are a beautiful combination of Bohemian and minimalist. I love the combination of beautiful textiles, muted colours and stark white walls.
