Organising books by color of spine

When at uni I used to get laughed at for organising my CD collection by colour of the spine of the case. I am dyslexic, I have to count a,b,c,d,e,f,g to find a CD in my collection but if I know it is pink CD it makes it so easy to find. I had, however never thought of organising my books in this way, such a good idea!

Vivienne Westwood boots

Ok, so I need a little advice. I am in LOVE with some boots, madly passionately in love with them. So in love I cant stop thinking about them. I would need to save for a fair old while, as my student bursary does not quite stretch that far.

So the question is, I know that £335 is a lot of money for some boots but how can i justify this purchase?

hmmmmm.

My yoga teacher told me the other day that she loves going to do the local art trail as she loves going to look around peoples houses, as artists have such interesting bathrooms. So this post is dedicated to her

Habitat vouchers for christmas please!

Personally I think habitat are really really hit and miss, but this season I could easily find plenty to spend some good old fashioned gift vouchers on.I drink a lot of tea (I'm British) and I am very particular about my mugs, I hate matching crockery so try and seek out intresting pieces. My latest find was this  lovely mug from Habitat. Good size, good shape hmmmm tea

Tibetan Ghau

I have just purchased a Old Tibetan Ghau  (A Ghau is a Tibetan buddhist amulet container or prayer box that carries powerful amuletic objects). When I was in China over the summer I nearly brought one from a Tibetan street seller but my friends talked me out of it (they dont seem to share my love of the obscure) and I have been kicking myself ever since.

The one I have just brought is like the one above, . I am so pleased with my purchase, and although I wish i had got one in China, mine was actually 1/4 of the price the Tibetan Man was selling his for. Mine contains a small Avalokitesvara character in the centre. I was attracted to this one as Avalokitesvara's other name is  Padmapāni which means holder of the lotus.

Rajasthani Puppets

Images from google

Freshly back from China I have began planning my next  big holiday already. Dream destination Rajisthan in India, home to so many talented craft men.

I am in love with these beautiful Rajasthani puppets, not simply used for decoration, the puppets are part of a traditional performance narrating an event from history, myths, folklore or legend, representing the traditional wisdom, knowledge and social mores of the region.

They are available to buy online at shops such as the wonderful Jupiter and Suns but as tempting it is to get my hands on these now and although it is so much nicer (and expensive) to get them  abroad.

Ikea, hell or heaven?

I know, Ikea is like being stuck in hell, everyone is stressed, no natural light etc... but i do love it. I have wanted this mirror and bed combo for a while now, and at only 369 for the pair you can't really go wrong. They look so much more expensive. Has to be done.

China

i am off to China in a week and have been browsing the internet for an idea of what purchases can be made, and i cam e across this blog, and found these amazing items. The blog is wonderful and really deserves to be checked out. Hope i find these items

Moroccan pouffe

I have had an obsession for a long while. Pouffe's. I really want one but at £65-80 for a good-en they always seem a little out of my student budget, and there is always something else i need a little more when it comes to birthdays and christmas. Here is a couple of rooms with pouffe's that feed my current obsession. They look just stunning with the moroccan trays on-top too. i am hopefully off to Morocco next year so i will just have to wait.

Brighton Pavilion

So I am from Brighton, and being from brighton i of course love the Royal Pavilion.  The pavilion is a former royal residence built in the early 19th century as a seaside retreat for the then prince regent. Wish someone would build me a seaside pavilion to chill out in. I swear when i was younger the roof was green though.

Practical magic

The house from Practical Magic
Conservatory in Practical Magic Movie

Ever since i set eyes on this house I have been in love. From the kitchen, to the conservatory to the massive Yoga/meditation room. The Practical Magic film and home is my dream.... can you believe they knocked this place down after filming?
