The Home of Penelope and Nathan...

I really love this house tour i found over at Apartment Therapy. The home belongs to professional organiser Penelope, husband Nathan and daughter Belle and I have included it as it is great to see an eclectic, stylish Family home..... with a stair gate !!

I love all the colour and texture in the home, especially the salmon pink paint next to that green wallpaper in the hallway. Although the third picture is definitely my favourite... I think it is the way the light is coming through the window

Please follow the link to Apartment Therapy to see the whole house tour....

I hope you are all having a great weekend, and those of you in the UK enjoy the May Day bank holiday... woo hoo... extra day off!!!

House plants and crystals.... The Opaque

The Opaque
I have a little crush on a new Tumblr account I found last week called The Opaque. Houseplants and crystals.... perfect combination don't you agree?

My little collection is growing slowly, only last week I found the most beautiful piece of Amethyst in a bargain bin in a charity shop.... sadly here in England crystals and minerals are really expensive...

The Eclectic Stockholm home of....... Daphne and Rolf

I found this stunning home on Hem & Antik, a Swedish website. It belongs to couple Daphne and Rolf and is located in Stolkholm . I was going to include the text which i translated on Google but I am not sure that the Copywriters would be too happy with that... it is worth a read though if you have the time.

The home is decorated head to foot in textiles and ornaments from the couples extensive travels across the globe. Although the whole apartment is beautiful, my favorite room is by far the master bedroom. It has been decorated with wall hangings from Uzbekistan, and has a fabulous chunky wooden framed Day bed from Java. I also adore the rich velvet table cloth to the left of the bed.

Bedroom:
The bed is a daybed from Java and the walls are covered in wall hangings from Uzbekistan,
Even the guest room is unique. Above the bed is a canopy made from mosquito nets from Goa, says Daphne

-The couch is a little different, because it has no back support. But we have added a ton of pillows

If you like this home then you will love the homes of Cornelis Le Mair,  Greg Irvine  and Mary Randolph Carter

Peacock Chairs : Hollywood Legends....

Peacock Chair : Elizabeth Taylor
Peacock Chair : Audrey Hepburn
Kathrine Hepburn
Norma Talmadge, 1920s
Bridget Bardot
Bette Davis
Ever since I brought my Peacock chair, it has been under threat as my partner absolutely hates it! It is true that they are uncomfortable and they do take up a lot of room, but they are just so darn pretty aren't they?

If a Peacock chair is good enough for Audrey Hepburn it is good enough for me....

Current Obsession :Heidi Anderson's Ceramic Totems

Heidi Anderson's Ceramic Totems

I came across these little Totem guys and gals by ceramic artist Heidi Anderson on The Radder's Instagram feed and just had to share. I particularly (and predicatbly) love the totems with the Moon above their heads....and they sit firmly at the top of my wish list...

" I make ceramic agateware pottery vases, planters, and sculptures that are inspired by the pottery and art of the southwest, as well as folk art of different cultures around the world. My approach is informed by my back ground in painting in the way I create designs with a method called agateware, in which different clays are combined and shaped into patterns and designs that are inlayed into the clay.
My art is informed by my appreciation of forms found in nature, geometric shapes, and the hand hewn in methods of craft. I am inspired by the many possibilities that working with clay offers and the endless ways it guides my imagination."

Heidi's Totems are available  online via The Radder.and yes, they ship Internationally, I have already checked :)

Green House: Garden Room Dining...

Greenhouse: Garden Room dining....
Greenhouse kitchen /diner
Geraniums and Lunch: Perfect combination

Okay so the top three pictures are pretty much identical, but they are all variations of my absolute dream greenhouse, garden dining room. They all smell of that earthy combination of Tomato plant and geranium and have just enough shade to keep you cool but let enough sunlight in the room so that you can still lean back in your chair after your lunch and feel the orange sun on your closed eyes..... bliss!!

Rugs in Bathrooms....

Rugs in Bathrooms
Bathroom Rug in this dreamy bathroom
I personally don't have a bathroom big enough for a rug, and to be honest with my family it would probably get soggy, damp and smelly quite quickly.... hmmmm, not really selling the idea am I?

Regardless, they don't half look pretty do they?

Experimental Greenhouse living in Rotterdam

Vintage ercol Couch
When I was in my teens I read a book called This Other Eden by Ben Elton. Set in the future, where in essence everyone was going to have to live in biodomes as we had destroyed the planet.... There was a lot more to the plot........I am sure this was supposed to be a scary prospect for the reader but I thought this idea of living in a self sufficient bubble of glass was so cool (not the demise of the planet bit)!

So when I saw this experimental home in Rotterdam, Netherlands, it certainly sent my heart racing. The home is an experimental greenhouse designed by students at Rotterdam university, that Plant Stylist Helly and her family are living in for the next three years.

It features glass windows on the roof that are tilted toward the sun to maximize solar gain, and to increase natural ventilation. Air also comes in through a pipe that's located three feet below ground, which brings in cool air during the summer, and warm air during winter -- thus naturally lowering heating and cooling costs.

Most importantly, there is a large rooftop garden, that produces an array of vegetables and fruits year round for the family of four and their dog -- tomatoes, watermelon, peppers, beets, zucchini and cauliflower. There is also a rainwater collection system, which stores water in rooftop tanks, to be used for irrigation, washing and flushing toilets.
