I cant decide which of these three sitting rooms I would prefer the most...

Sitting room of.... Dabido

Small but perfectly formed, and so well laid out!!!

I have a tiny house and I am always looking for ways to 'utilise my space' more effectivly. As I have decided to buy most of my furniture second hand does mean that I have to wait to find the perfect piece, which is wonderful when it presents itself, but a pain waiting.....

This small sitting room is owned by blogger and photographer Dabido of Old Brand New and was a makeover in collaboration with West Elm USA.

I really love what he has done with the room. Loads of huge house plants, bright colours and interesting shapes. There is a nice mixture of brand new items like the table and lamp (both from West Elm) and vintage/ handmade crafted items like the little yellow Indian Bajot table and the African figures on the bookshelves.

My favorite item however is that fabulous hand carved Indian Satara mirror from World Market..... too bad they don't ship to the UK, I would actually buy that for my hallway!!

Arent these traditional Swedish stoves fabulous? I have been collecting these images for about a year, until I could get enough together to show you guys on Moon to Moon.

Swedish 'kakelung' have been made in Sweden and other Scandinavian countries out of hand made stove tiles. They are very efficient, evenly distributing the heat and heating up the masonry before exiting the chimney. I am sure you will agree these really are so, so beautiful!

I have been eyeing up vintage and antique day beds recently. A beautiful thick throw (or vintage velvet curtain) some cushions /scatter pillows, a book and a cuppa and there you have it..... heaven!

I have no room what so ever in my tiny little house but one day I will have one....

As mentioned previously,  I have recently been trying to declutter my home and stop needlessly buying 'bargains'. Despite 33 years of magpie behaviour, this challenge has actually not been as difficult as i had expected, mainly due to having a hungry baby to look after and no time to go shopping.

Unknown Issue

World of Interiors is the only magazine I subscribe too. World of Interiors is a visual delight every month and for those of you who haven't brought a copy yet I urge you to give it a go. I have been subscribed for a few years and although not every month has properties to my taste I love looking at passionately decorated homes, not the usual over Interior designed celebrity pads or lifeless styled homes you get in other glossy mags.

This week I am highlighting some of the best living rooms from the magazine. Not all of them have the magazine issues attached, for which I apologize, but it is a good excuse for you to buy some copies and have a look for your self :)

I got a Papasan chair for my 21st birthday and it has followed me from home to home, never quite fitting  in, but how ever many times I have been tempted, and asked by Dan, to get rid of it, but I just cant. It was the first piece of furniture I ever owned and the first grown up birthday present I received. With the news that I am expecting a baby Moon and have a nursery to decorate I have yet again contemplated getting rid of my Rattan beauty but....

....I have just read makes a great nursing chair!! Looks like yet again my Papasan is saved... Hurrah!!

Coffee tables... center piece or dumping ground?

I haven't actually got a coffee table. My parents never really had one either, probably due to a pack of crazy Deerhounds (aka, the best dogs in the world) with waggling tails at coffee table height.

I really love all these pictures and have been wondering if it is what my living room needs, a well worn vintage wooden table to 'tie the room together', in reality though are they useful or just another Interior design concept that is great in theory but in reality, is another place to dump papers, accumulate dirty mugs and only making a well assembled appearance when visitors arrive?

Do you have an immaculate well presented coffee table or is yours a dumping ground too?

In the last post I featured conversation Pits, although beautiful they are rather large and probably not practical or financially possible in the normal home.

These Moroccan inspired seating areas above are a little more practical whilst a lot friendlier on the budget. A couple of Kilim pillows, a throw or two, maybe a small sheepskin, a worn teak or Jali table and you are on your way. Bohemian bliss!!
