There is something so comforting and relaxing about a room with floor to ceiling books. I am currently reading my first new to me, book since Alex was born. I just havent had the chance or inclination before now. Reading has always been my best form of escape when things are getting a little hectic yet I seem to forget how important it is to my soul until I pick one up .....

I would love my own little reading nook .... wouldn't you?

All the images I have chosen are so eclectic, so full of 'stuff' and character. To me they are warm and cosy an womb like. They remind me of a comment I had once that said

I havent actually got a coffee table, I am not allowed one as aparently it will be just another place for me to accumulate more junk :)

I do love a good coffee table book though, i am currently browsing the pages of Taschens 100 Interiors around the World that Dan brought me for Christmas.. such a good book..... What about you guys? Any recommendations?

Today is my birthday and with the weather forecast showing rain all day long and with me not being able to walk more than a few hundred yards (38 weeks pregnant), I fully intend to spend it chilling out and enjoying re-reading Women who Run with the Wolves on the sofa with my feet up.... bliss!

Isn't this the most beautiful idea?

 It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite 

literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where 

anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share.

Little Free Library was born in 2009 when Todd Bol of Hudson, Wisconsin, built a model of a one room schoolhouse as a tribute to his mother, a former school teacher who loved reading.  He filled it with books and put it on a post in his front yard.  His neighbors and friends loved it.  He built several more and gave them away.  Each one had a sign that said FREE BOOKS.

Little Free Library has grown rapidly in the last 5 years and the not-for-profit organizations original goal of 2,150 libraries has been surpassed with over 15,000 Little Free Libraries worldwide in over 40 countries!!

I have just ordered South Africa: Private Worlds by Desmond Colborne from Amazon, mainly because a few years back I fell in love with and have been greatly influenced in my own home, by the top picture and had no idea where it came from, until today!!

Fingers crossed the rest of the book is as stunning as this..... I will let you know !!

 The Main Hall featured five tiers of cast-iron alcoves that housed over 200,000 books.

These images are of the Old Building of the original Cincinnati and Hamilton country Library. In 1874 the Public library of Cincinnati moved into the small building originally meant to be an opera house, Sadly by the 1950's the library outgrew the building and it was knocked down. So sad.... espcially when you look at its grim replacement....
