What a lovely post and great pictures! I stumbled across your blog this morning whilst having a tea break, I can't stop scrolling through your posts and am finding it hard to leave! Keep up the good work.
Hi! I am so thrilled to see this post. The very first photo is my mom with her dog Jasmine! I have an original hard copy of the book...What a treasure. Thank you so much for posting. My mom passed away in 2000, so this is an extra special find for me :)
What a wonder thing to see Rolling Homes featured here. My husband and the time (1979) built one with Michael (whose home is featured in the book! I often search online to see if I can find the one we built. It was beautiful and all photos of it were sadly lost. My x-husband died in 2010. We built a couple of them in the Tahoe area...a very freeing time in life!
I can't tell you how many times I brought this book home from the library as an young teenager, I loved it so much. Then MANY years later, I searched for it again and it was $78 on Amazon, so that was a disappointment. But then I found it at Powell's, which is a book mecca in Portland, Oregon, and I paid $21 for it. At last I had my own copy!!
Between this and stumbling across Bohemian Chic on the internet by accident, I've decided to reconnect with my inner hippie and redo everything in the house, starting with the living room. This makes me incredibly happy because I'll be able to put out all the little and not so little things that I have collected over the years that give me joy. And it's not going to matter a whit that nothing matches. I'll even start recovering a beloved armchair picked up off the curb in San Francisco with boro patches. And I will love everything. I'm so excited!
