I have never been one for taking pictures of myself, I am extreamly un-photogenic and a bit shy! I do however like documenting my journeys and usually snap my feet wherever I go..... so I was really happy when I found 'I have this thing with floors', a steadily growing Instagram account dedicated to Instagram users foot and floor portraits.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of having your foot selfie chosen is #Ihavethisthingwithfloors

These beautiful loop rugs are from Kneeland and Mercado and are so dreamy aren't they? I first saw one in the extreamly beautiful Home of John and Hannah, from The General Store and fell in love.

I would love to get out of bed and feel one of these beautiful rugs under my feet, wouldnt you ?

Kneeland and Mercado Rugs are available via their website here.

Tranquility and Tilework....

Tranquil: Black and White tilework
Trapani Midnight Tile By Villa Lagoon Tile
Antique hand painted Tiles

I rarely get moments of stillness these days. Life with an 8 month old is pretty hectic, even when Alex is asleep I am always 'on duty', like a sleeping lion ready to pounce.

On Thursday I got my moment of calm reflection whilst sat in a coffee shop. It was a coffee shop I had been in a zillion times before with my sister, but this time it was empty and I was alone (with Alex asleep in his pushchair) . I had one of those really rare beautiful moments where the winter sun streams through the window, showing the little dust particles dancing and warming my face......... In an instant I took a deep breath, and closed my eyes, embracing the soothing orange light and felt so tranquil.

As I opened my eyes they were drawn to the floor. How had never noticed the beautiful terracotta tiles before?

I have taken it as a sign. I need to slow down and take time to sit and be still and cherish the smaller details.I don't need to be super mum, the best blogger, or have a perfectly tidy home. I just need to relax and enjoy these precious moments ....

The coffee shop tiles..... excuse the poor photo :)

Current Obsession: Jute Rugs

Jute Rug

Jute Rug: DIY
Large Handwoven Jute Rug from World Market

I love these handmade Jute rugs and am kicking myself about not buying one a couple of years ago from a local charity shop as my friend told me it looked like a door mat. Okay so it kind of does... but a glorious flower door mat !!

These beauties not only look great on the floor but as seen in image 1 they also look great as a headboard...

What do you think?

DIY Home: Painted and Stencilled Flooring...

Stenciled Floor, Follow the link for full how to..
Ever since I first saw the images of NeSpoons beautiful lacy Urban art a few years ago I have dreamt of decorating the pavements in my home town of Bristol with some pretty stencil art. Luckily, being the home of Banksy, Bristol is known for its street art and most street corners have some Graffiti so I would defiantly get away with it.

However also as tempting is to use stencils to decorate the floors in my home. The floors in the Free People Philadelphia store, for instance have really caught my eye and would certainly brighten up my Kitchen.

Of course this stencil art can also be applied to the garden patio, my illustrator and blogger friend Emily is using a stencil similar to the bottom image to brighten up her patio, I cant wait to see the results!
